SM Lab: 2024 H2 Results and plans for Spring Season

27 December 2024

It is customary to reflect on the last year in December. We also followed suit and are going to share the experience SM Lab had attending conferences in the fall of 2024.

We attended three major, regular IT conferences: Infostart Tech Event for 1C experts, SQA Days for testers, and Analyst Days for analysts.

The Infostart Tech Event was held in early October in St. Petersburg. It is themed every year, mimicking a film festival or cyberpunk style. This year, it was steampunk. 1,300+ visited the 2024 conference.

Our team sent two speakers:

A week later, that event was followed by the 35th Anniversary SQA Days Conference.
To surprise the conference, our team chose the superhero theme. We were the Avengers.

At SQA Days, we had it all: two presentations and one master class.

Our speakers, Alexander Naumov, and Boris Moshnin, captured great interest with their presentations and received high praise from the audience.
Boris Moshnin’s speech on the differences between long-term employment and job-hopping resulted in an article on habr.

Olga Yermolaeva conducted a master class on hiring, sparking lively discussions and engaging the participants.

In just two days, over 700 people learned about our company and projects. Follow this link to watch our conference video.

In November, our analysts presented their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory concept at Analyst Days, the 19th international conference on systems and business analysis. The online/offline event attracted over 1,000 professionals who networked and shared their experiences.

Pavel Astakhov, our colleague and system analysis expert, made a presentation on Design Documentation: Real-Life Experience and Field-Proven Templates". He received many questions, and the audience eagerly shared their stories. We are going to host a master class and roundtable on this. A follow-up article will be published soon.

The event on November 30 was smaller but still highly important for SM Lab. It was a relay race of the Running Clubs Cup at the CSKA Arena.

SM Lab dispatched two teams: SMPaws and SM_Run. The team members showcased their athletic skills and team spirit, supporting each other throughout the race. They finished in first and second place.

This fall, we filmed three podcasts about the Web Application Department, Client-Server Systems Department, and Department of Quality Assurance. Stay tuned: a new podcast about the IT Product Management Department is coming in January.

Our plans for Spring and Summer 2025:

  • New podcasts about the System Analysis Department and Corporate Business Architecture Development Department.
  • Joint, Analysis Days 20 conferences.
  • Presentations at Heisenbug, Mobius, Infostart a&pm.

See you soon!
